Software Decisions
I normally get software written for my construction business because I find that is the best way to get exactly what you need. However, with the economic problems around at the moment, I want to try to save money and am therefore considering buying some construction estimating software off the shelf. I am quite nervous about this as it may not do everything I need it to, but it could be the only way that the company can afford to update its software. I know that we need something with on screen takeoff because our competitors are at an advantage over us, having got this feature already. I think that it will do us a lot of good and improve the service that we can provide and the speed of our jobs. I know that there are a lot of pieces of software on the market that offer the function but I need to make sure that they have all of the other functions that we need as well. This is taking some time to work out, but it has been fun seeing what is available and how it differs from what we have at the moment. I have not found the perfect thing yet but I do have a few almost perfect alternatives that I may discuss with my team soon.
